Thursday Night

Evelyn Carter!

To hell with the Georgia Power Co. you said you were low and doing circles what do you think I’m doing – circles, squares, and triangles. I never have had such a feeling in my life, since you broke the news this afternoon. To make things worse, when I was talking to Miss Marchbanks, she said so couldn’t help it (which she probably could not) but she also added she was sure we would all like the new girl – like someone else could take EVELYN CARTER’S (the electricity girl) place.

Evelyn do something about it. You can if you will. Go to Rome, instead of Cedartown. If you only will, you can sell them on the idea. You have it.

They must have a job to be done there, that this girl couldn’t put over, so they have elected you, but do something about it. Its absolutely not RIGHT.

I’m glad Mark Champion is in town to-night, for I made you a promise the last date I had with you that I would have had to break, if he wasn’t in town because when I close to-night, I’m really going to take several drinks.

I have said its a fine country, but its an error. There’s no justice.

Honey, I think it would be wonderful if you could wait until Sunday night to come after your “belongings,” so I could have one more Calhoun “after the bus runs date.” I probably won’t have that luck.

I’m sorry I’ve worried you with what I’ve written, but there is not enough words to express just how terrible I feel.

Hope you’ll have a grand time at the damn Georgia Power dance.

EVELYN CARTER I DO – (LOVE YOU)

-Willie V.
