Evelyn dearest,
This morning after carrying Paul (the colored boy) by the Floyd Johnson’s, I went home (give the Carter pronounciation) and sit down on the porch with the pretense of reading the sport page. I had a wish that a girl, dressed in a new blue outfit, and driving a new Ford might pass by and give me that smile. The Wish came true.
With it, the one hour ride this morning, and the honest to goodness talk you gave me yesterday afternoon, you have made me a very happy person. I mean it. The way I feel now, I’ll have no trouble doing better.
This afternoon, Miss Beulah (sister) and I had a very pleasant ride over to Rome and have just returned. She is at a lost the way I acted. Could not understand my pep. By the way there is nothing to the Wheeler man. He is planning to move to Fla.
I really appreciate the Floyd Johnson route we made this morning for it came as a sure enough surprise, but this Eevelyn [sic] B. has a way of doing the unexpected.
To-night I am going up to Doc and Virginia’s to eat and then home to read and sleep, for I am positively through with the life that I have been living. Although I told you this morning I know how the “situation” is set up, do the best you can for me in the little red book, because I Do want to be your buddie.
Sincerely,
Willie V.
